These terms govern your use of tidelab.io. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use it.

What we provide

TideLab is a sailing-education platform. We provide interactive simulators (ColRegs lights, day shapes, sound signals, radar), practice quizzes, course overviews, study materials, crew tools, and resource/buying guides.

This is educational content, not a formal qualification. Passing a quiz on TideLab does not certify you in anything; for real RYA or STCW credentials you must take the official course and exam.

Your account

If you create an account, you're responsible for the security of your credentials. Tell us at once if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be 16 or older to create an account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts for abuse — including scraping, automated mass requests, harassment of other users, or attempts to bypass our security measures.

Use of the platform

You agree not to:

Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically download our content
Use the platform to harass, defraud, or harm others
Probe or test security controls without permission
Resell, redistribute, or republish our content without permission (the embeddable widgets at /embed are licensed for embedding with attribution; see that page for details)

Embedded widgets

Our ColRegs / radar / day-shape / sound-signal simulators are available as embeddable iframes under /embed. You may embed them on your own website (sailing school resource page, crew-training intranet, etc.) without prior permission, provided the embed's “Powered by TideLab” footer link remains intact.

Intellectual property

All content, designs, code, and brand assets on tidelab.io are owned by TideLab or its licensors. Quiz questions, course bodies, study guides, and the interactive simulators are our copyrighted work. You retain ownership of anything you submit to us.

Affiliate links

Some links in our comparison and buying guides are affiliate links — we may earn a small commission if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. We disclose this clearly on every guide. We recommend products based on real evaluation; affiliate revenue doesn't determine our verdicts.

Liability

The platform is provided as is. We make no warranty that the information is suitable for any particular purpose. Don't rely on TideLab for safety-critical decisions at sea — use the official IMO COLREGS, your country's maritime authority, and qualified instructors.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TideLab is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from your use of the platform.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — replace with your chosen jurisdiction, e.g. England and Wales, or Romania]. Disputes will be heard in the courts of that jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage and dated above. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept them.
